I switched from 690 SMC R to the 890 R. The 890 feels smoother and more refined in many ways but overall, I miss the supermoto everyday! I miss having the tank in the back, I miss the riding position, I miss romping on the throttle around town, and most of all I miss how easy it was to whip it side to side. 35K subscribers in the KTM community.

My smc got 190 km/h (~118mp/h) on the speedo and it was the revlimiter, stock sprockets, now i have 15 sprocket in the front and it goes about 180 km/h :thumbup: :arsenal KTM 690 SMC :arsenal Save Share
The 690 isn't massively faster until around 60mph where the DRZ starts to taper off the 690 pulls like a train pretty much until 100, and can go on to 120ish. It has a bigger fuel tank and better MPG but I can easily strap a fuel can on my DRZ. The dash on the 690 is nicer but 99% chance of breaking in some way due to vibrations, mines been fixed.
Be aware that there's a power-to-weight ratio limit as well as the power limit, so if you want to be legal, it'll need to be restricted to less than 47bhp because it's so light. Not sure what the actual max would be at 150kg or whatever it is, but it's gonna be quite a bit lower - the effective minimum weight to still have 47bhp is 175kg. 2.
